We're going on a shape hunt...

Today we listened to a shape hunt song and went for a hunt around classroom. We were great detectives.

Windsocks are cool!!

Today we finished up our windsocks as a way to help us learn about the wind! They were so fun! We also got to take them home so we can try them outside at our houses!

Daily 5 is so much fun!!

Cafe strategies

Strategies that we work on during daily 5.  These are great things to work on at home as well with your child when you are reading with them! As we learn a new strategy I will make sure to post it!

Kindness Week is next week!!!

Douglas will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge next week (Jan. 27-Jan. 31).  This is a movement that many other schools in the nation are participating in.  In this challenge, students are encouraged to do as many kind acts as possible during the week.  If a student wishes to participate, they can pick up a challenge check off list outside of my door next week.  There are 2 check lists, (one for K/1st and another for 2-5).  If you would like to participate as a class, please let me know and I'll print out a classroom set for you.  At the end of the week, a participating student can turn in their challenge checklist in to me (or you if you want) for a dragon dollar.
In addition to the challenge, we'll have a couple other activities going on during recess or before school.  We'll also be dedicating a "buddy bench" to the playground next week sometime.  More on that later.  On Friday, 1/31 we will be having a spirit day - Hats On to Kindness.  Students and staff can wear any kind of hat they want to school that day.

Thanks!
