Today we started read to someone!

We added another component to our daily 5 literacy time, read to self! The boys and girls are learning how to sit EEKK (elbow, elbow, knee, knee) with the book in the middle so they both can see! They take turns reading a page each and helping eachother sound out the words. After they have read a page, their partner "checks for understanding" and tells their partner what they just heard them read.

They are doing awesome! Check out some of the students working so hard!

A pretty afternoon means science outside!

We used chalk and a fun mixture of shaving cream and glue to create pictures of clouds we have seen in the sky. When then added a story to our picture.

Artist in residence!

This week our kindergarten is so excited to have a writer visit our classroom! Mr. Richard krawiec is here to work with our students on some interactive writing!! 

The week at a glance: 
Day 1: read and act out "too much talk"
Day 2: create own folk tale with characters of life 
Day 3: finish creating characters from own life
Day 4: create setting from own folk tale 
Day 5: finish and share

100th day!

Today we celebrated our 100th day of kindergarten!!! We had lots if fun writing our numbers to 100, counting to 100, making 100 day hats, making 100 fruit loop necklaces, making 100 day snack mix and so much more. Phew! What a fun day!!
